Dakota Gardens of Sanford Vermillion is a non-profit congregate housing center committed to providing a safe, secure, home-like environment for senior members of the Vermillion community and the surrounding area. Residential services support independent living with a continuum of healthcare services immediately available.Tenants at Dakota Gardens enjoy a single or double occupancy apartment with 24-hour emergency response system access. Each apartment has a private bathroom with safety handrails and individually controlled heat and air conditioning.

Services include:
- Maintenance of individual apartments, the building and grounds (i.e. snow removal, lawn care)
- Housekeeping services provided to assist each apartment tenant with cleaning windows, appliances, showers, etc. Housekeeping services for common areas
- Noon meal served daily in the formal dining area
- Use of free laundry facilities on each floor
- Storage unit for each apartment on each floor Satellite television services for each apartment at no additional charge
- Health education and/or assessment programs available through Sanford Vermillion Medical Center
- Annual nutritional assessment/counseling
- On site Beauty Shop
